Kia Ora
,The book The Story of Wales by Jon Gower (2012) says that the Cyfartha Works were so well know internationally that the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte sent two crates of Italian iron ore to them, and enquired if they could be smelted there. The ore arrived in early 1815, just before the 18th June Battle of Waterloo and his abdication, 22nd June.
Obviously Napoleon had no further use for iron products, and the iron ore was not processed.
Does anyone in your Society know what happened to the iron ore?
