When I was young I lived in Summerhill, behind Thomastown Park, so this monument is very familiar to me. I’m also interested to see Dr. Biddle’s name here. There were two Doctors Biddle, father and son, at Merthyr General Hospital. The father removed my Grandmother’s appendix. There’s a lovely photo of Merthyr’s Medical Men on the steps of the General in a wonderful book I bought in the 70’s ‘Old Merthyr Tydfil and Aberdare in Photographs’ and it was then that Gran told me about her connection to Dr. Biddle.
