Mr and Mrs Humphreys, our next door neighbours in Clare Street were visited every year by the lady who’d been an evacuee from Folkestone. I spent many holodays in that area of Kent when my children were young, in the 1980’s. How many times I went ino a shop and got ino conversation with someone who had been evacuated here and spoke of it with great affection.
